About	FREDERICK J. NORD Born: Oct. 20, 1942 Died: May 9, 2015 Frederick J. Nord, died Saturday, May 9, 2015, at Halifax Health Hospice of Volusia/Flagler, Edgewater, Florida. Born October 20, 1942, at the old Community Hospital in Geneva, Frederick was a descendant of early Swedish Pioneers arriving in St. Charles in August 1853. The son of Everett and Kathleen (Purfield) Nord, Frederick is survived by a brother, Douglas (Sharon) Nord of North Aurora. Fred was a student at the Art Institute of Chicago, graduate of the American Academy of Art, a commercial artist, a Sergeant in the United States Marine Corps, a 4 year President of Playmakers, Inc., Vice President of the 3rd St. Merchants Association of Geneva, the Vasa Order, and a member of the 1976 Bicentennial Committee. He moved to New Smyrna Beach, Florida in the early 80's and worked as a funeral director at Settle-Wilder Funeral Home for 30 years. Visitation will be 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 12, at Settle-Wilder Funeral Home. Funeral will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 13, at the graveside at Sea Pines Memorial Gardens, Edgewater, Florida. In lieu of other remembrances, donations in his memory may be made to a charity of one's choice or to Southeast Volusia Humane Society, 1200 South Glencoe Road, New Smyrna Beach, Florida 32168.
