About Me | Hello everyone, My name is Robert Brown, I currently reside in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. I also have been a weather nut since I was a child, and became fasinated with earth science. Belive it or not as a child I was terrified of lightning and thunder, but after I discovered the art of science, it became a addiction. I wanted to know more about the subject. In jr. high I was givin the opprutunity to job shadow at the National Weather Service office, while there i was able to learn about the new NEXRAD technology, and how it operates. I was also able to setup and launch a weather balloon, and watch the readings from it soundings. After that point, I read books and fanisized about storm chasing, then that movie came out. "You know the one" After the movie I was hooked. Yes, not only did I become a victim, of the great story line and Helen Hunts good looks. I also want to be in that picture so bad. As time moved on my next weather encounter was a big one. I flew down to New Orleans right after Hurricane Katrina, to help with the relief efforts, while I was in the national guard. I seen first hand, what 170MPH wind gust can do to a large city, and its people. Well, storm chasing never left my mind, but I grew a new respect for mother nature, and her fury. I was introduced to the SKYWARN program in 2006 and became certified in winter of 2007. It took another 6 months before i was asked to join the EXTREME WEATHER TEAM and was assigned my Chase number. After 3 years with the team i have moved on to create Wicked Prairies. With a new logo, look and feel. I plan on pursuing my dreams of being a storm chaser and weather enthusiast. I stuck to my plans and moved to Sioux Falls from Washington state giving the Guardian " my chase vehicle her first runs on the plains. I would like to get a degree in Meterology, and Journalism, And I plan on chasing under these violent skies, untill god tell me it time to come home. I have many other interest such as building models, flying on the flight simulator, and photography... Thank you for viewing my page and hope to see you out in the plains some day.. keep your eyes to the skies Robert D. Brow...(read more) |
