Class of 1968
Air Force, 20+ Years
Served as an Inventory Management/Logistics specialist. Duty stations included: Alaska, Thailand, South Carolina, Korea, Maine, Florida and Tennessee. Also served as a Recruiter in Memphis, Tennessee prior to retiring in January of 1989. Retired at the rank of Msgt (E-7).

David Talany

Navy, 20+ Years
Retired Machinist Mate Senior Chief. Served in both Atlantic & Pacific fleets. Served on last Westpac battlefleet to Viet Nam after ground forces removed. Served majority (23 years) in the submarine force having earned gold patrol pin for 20 Strategic Deterrent patrols on four 'boomers' (USS Lewis & Clark,Will Rogers,Von Steuben, & Pulaski). Assistant Repair Officer at Philadelphia Naval Shipyard. New Construction Coordinator USS Toledo (SSN-769). Retired to Kings Bay Ga area fro Trident Refit Facility as the senior enlisted chief petty officer in charge of Quality Assurance Supervisors. Earned Bachelors & Masters Degrees and taught ESE and math for 10 years in Florida.

my wife in Feb 1963. US Army gave us a wedding present by cutng honeymoon in half and sending me to Vietnam, Experience from school and farm were i n engineer field at same time.

Served one year in the Reserves, two years as a seaman aboard an ammunition ship. Served one tour in the Mediteranean and one tour in Vietnam. Followed by three more years as inactive reserve. I was discharged at the rank of 2nd Class Boatswains Mate.

Our Spring Grove High School military alumni are some of the most outstanding people we know and this page recognizes them and everything they have done! Not everyone gets to come home for the holidays and we want our Spring Grove High School Military to know that they are loved and appreciated.
