About | James “Jim” A. Guck passed June 21st, in Lake Tahoe. James “Jim” Guck was born on August 13, 1955, in Rochester, New York, to Raymond and Edna Guck. Raised in a hardworking household—his father employed at a machine shop and his mother at a factory—Jim grew up understanding the value of dedication, resilience, and family. He was one of five siblings, sharing childhood with Cheryl, Raymond, Deborah, Linda, and Thomas in a home filled with laughter, stories, and strong family ties. A proud graduate of Spencerport High School, Class of 1974, Jim went on to earn his Millwright Apprenticeship Certificate, setting the stage for a career marked by skill, commitment, and integrity. He built a successful career at General Motors, where he worked for many years as a skilled millwright. Known for his work ethic and dependability, Jim was respected and admired by colleagues and supervisors alike. Even after retiring from GM, his drive didn’t slow down—he continued to work at Delphi, putting his experience and skills to use and staying active in the workforce. Jim had a zest for life that was impossible to miss. He was outgoing, energetic, talkative, and funny—a magnetic presence in every room. Known for his incredible memory and his gift for storytelling, he could captivate a crowd with tales of his adventures, peppered with wisdom, humor, and a twinkle in his eye. A self-described “thrifty” man, he took pride in getting the best deal, and he was never shy about sharing a tip or two on how to do the same. |

Jim's father, Ray bowled with my father and brother on Friday nights at Spencerport Bowl for years. I remember the day that he strung together eleven strikes in a row and just missed out on a 300 game. Jim was a great person to be around and never had a bad word to say about anyone. My prayers go out to the Guck family.
