Machinist Mate - Nuclear. Operated nuclear powered propulsion engineering systems aboard Fleet Ballistic Missile Submarine. Made 4 strategic deterrent patrols out of Holy Loch, Scotland and Charleston, SC. Also served 3 years aboard nuclear sub repair ship in Nuclear Repair Department.

in Florida when my class graduated. Enlisted in the Indiana National Guard for 3 years and then transfered to the Army Reserves and attained the rank of Captain when I retired with a total service of 28 years. Also graduated from Purdue with a BSEE degree and worked for A.T.&T. for 26 years
and was a Senior Engin and retired in 1986..

Commanded 823d Ordnance Co. at Savanna Army Depot, Savanna, IL. Then moved the Co. to Ft. Riley, KS. From that point I spent the majority of my time as an Army Comptroller (Financial Mgt.). Received MBA degree from Syracuse, Univ. Then was assigned as Deputy Comptroller, Qui Nhon, Viet Nam for 9 months and finished my tour in RVN as Executive Officer, 86th Maintenance BN. Next assignment were: Comptroller, Rock Island Arsenal, Rock Island, IL, Grant Aid Programmer, American Embassy, Amman, Jordan, Asst. Professor (ROTC) at Michigan Tech Univ., Houghton, MI, Special Weapons Research Officer at US Army Nuclear & Chemical Agency, Ft. Belvoir, VA, Director, Resource Management, Ft. Belvoir, VA, Director, Procurement Division, USA DCSRDA, and finally Assistant Director of the Army Budget, Hq, Dept. of Army, the Pentagon.
I retired in October 1989 as a Colonel (Full Bird), after 26 years, 3 months and 27 days.

MG Wells military career spanned more than 36 years, included many positions of leadership and tours of duty in Korea, Desert Storm/Desert Shield, and Operation Iraqi Freedom. The last three ears of his career he served as the Assistant Deputy Chief of Staff for Logistics, Mobilization and Training at the Pentagon in Washington DC. He was awarded the Sagamore of the Wabash by the Governor of Indiana in November 2008.

24 Years of Service. Honorably retired from the US Army as a Master Sergeant. Served in Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2005 earning the Bronze Star and Combat Action Badge. Served in Haiti in 2010 after the earthquake conducting humanitarian operations.
