Ed Akeman

Class of 1962

Ed started his own company in 1972 as co-founder called it International Games Inc. (I.G.I.) the makers of the UNO and Skip-Bo Card Games.
UNO became the number one game world wide in1981 and Skip-Bo the number two game in the world in 1987.

His company produced many games such as Dukes of Hazard, Sesame Street games for growing, Gremlins and many other recognizable products.

In 1987 he sold 60% of his stock to the employees (ESOP) and remained as a board member and retired in 1989 to Sarasota, FL. In 1993 his remaining stock was sold to Mattel and I.G.I. became a Mattel Co. and then merged into
Mattel in 1995.
