| About Me | I've traveled the US extensively, living in the 5 western states of WA, OR, MT, NV & CA. I've spent the last 21 years living in Plumas County, CA where I raised my 4 kids, who are now 35, 33, 30 & 25. I was elected to the office of Plumas County Supervisor, leaving office in 2009. Plumas is a rural county located in the Sierra Nevada mountains that always reminded me of Trinity County. I started a successful consulting business in 1997 and continue to work as a government affairs and occupational safety & health consultant. My work is primarily with local governments located throughout Northern California and high hazard industries. I was the first, and probably the only, woman safety compliance officer to work in the timber industry, representing 36 logging companies over 15 years. I've had the very distinct pleasure of working with over 5000 loggers throughout California and Southern OR. I even found a few of my old classmates working for some of the same loggers that I worked for! We were surprised to see each other for sure. I still have a great love and respect for the great outdoors. I have been deeply engaged in federal public lands issues for over 20 years, making over 30 trips to Washington DC educating congress and others about Western culture, tradition and rural economies dependent on natural resource production. I am currently involved in advancing affordable and environmentally acceptable wastewater treatment technology and energy production from water turbines, primarily in rural Northern California. I'd like to take this opportunity to thank Ms. Paxton, Ms. Lingo and Mr. Flemming for being such great teachers. Because of them I gained a real love for the sciences, literature and arts, and woodworking and I'm still passionate about each. While some may think we didn't get much out of our little school, I've always been grateful to the dedication of the teachers who made sure we all stuck with it to become successful citizens and the first graduating ...(read more) |
