OK!! I decided to take this on, again, since I had numerous requests for me to do so. I have a saying that “once you stop planning, you’ll die”. So, here we go again. However, I can’t predict the future and so five years is a long off. With that said, my feeling is this may be the last “grand reunion” for the class of 1970.
Let me now address the cost. As with everything else, prices to put something like this on has increased. One could say the increase is dramatic. The cost of the buffet itself is $34.99 per person, a 46% increase from 3 years ago. On top of the cost of the buffet is, of course there is the 6% PA sales tax and a 20% gratuity charge. The room rental has also increased from $200 to $500, although I increased the time from 4 hours to 5 hours. In 2022 at 10 pm we had roughly half the people still there and so I was forced to literally “clear the room”. The bartender fee has increased from $80 to $185. So, if we do some simple math, at 80 attendees, the breakeven point is about $52.65. That means we will probably be using some of the $600 that is left in the “Reunion Account”. So, why the $49.50 price? Simply put, I just didn’t want to go over the cost of $100 per couple. I believe that would be detrimental to the potential turnout. I didn’t seek out other venues since those venues were so overpriced three years ago and I doubt seriously they would have been that more uncompetitive this time.
So, the deadline for reservations will be two weeks from the event date, September 25th, when I will need to provide a final count.
Glenn Newhard has consented in collecting the checks. Checks should be made out to “Reunion Committee” and sent to Glenn’s home address. If you don’t know Glenn’s address, I will be sending out a mass email for those who have email and also a traditional post mailing for those who do not have email. Please send me, Dave Moyer, an email at dmoyer@atmc.net of your intentions. Glenn and I will be coordinating a listing of the status of who is and who is not coming. Brenda Boyer Green will be providing the name tags and also, she will pick the menu items.
Final note!! As a suggestion of some classmates, it was decided to have an “afternoon” time rather than having people drive at night time. THIS IS YOUR REUNION!! As I said, this could be the last one. Please seriously consider attending!! It was great seeing everyone three years ago and it sure would be nice to see everyone again, plus hopefully others who could not attend due to the shorter time notice!! Hope all is well with everyone!!
