About David Wayne Ward Obituary
Surrounded by his loving family on October 21, 2023, David Wayne Ward, 66, was called home early by our Lord Jesus Christ at 3:31 p.m. Throughout his battle with pancreatic cancer, Dave remained resolute in his dedication to God, family, friends, and hard work.

Born on July 9, 1957, he spent the majority of his life in the Mayo/Edgewater area, where he made friends, raised a family, and through his undeniable determination, built two successful businesses, Taurus Enterprises and Chesapeake Spas.

He was the patriarch of the family, a “salt of the earth” type who loved his family, hugs, his country, freedom, fireworks, fast bikes, fast cars, hard work, lacrosse, and his lawn mower.

Whether you came to him for a hug, advice, or a favor, he was the type that would leap at the chance to help. He was a charitable, loving man who used his prosperity for the greater good. He was humbled by God’s love for him and showed it through his involvement in the growth of Edgewater Bible Church, where he served as an elder and leader of a weekly Bible study.

David is survived by his beloved wife of 11 years, W. Gayle Ward; his children, Adam David Ward (wife Jennifer), Adele Ward Lerner (husband Billy), April Reene Slater, Daphne Christine Ward, and his step-son John Vincent Baumgarten III (wife Alyssa); his siblings, Bobby Ward and Bea Ward; and his grandchildren, Alexis Ward, Hudson Ward, Cutler Ward, Gabrielle Slater, Xander Slater, Bryndle Ward, Elijah Ward, and Chase Valdes. He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Beatrice Ward, and three siblings, Richie Ward, Billy Ward and Joy Ward.

The family would like to invite everyone to join in Dave’s Life Celebration on Friday October 27, 2023 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Elks Lodge, 2 Pythian Dr.; Edgewater, Md. 21037.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made in honor of Dave’s granddaughter, Alexis’s non-profit organization, The Charlottesville Cardinals, dedicated to making rugby more inclusive for athletes with disabilities.
