Classmate Memories

Fred Bednarik '76 posted a photo:

I was deeply saddened to learn of the passing of our Class of ’76 classmate, Dr. Michael Wayne Tongue. Even in high school, Michael carried himself with a quiet confidence, intelligence, and kindness that made a lasting impression on everyone who knew him. It’s no surprise that he went on to build a remarkable life of service—touching countless lives through his medical career, community leadership, and dedication to helping others.

Michael’s accomplishments speak volumes, but those who knew him remember something even greater: his good heart, his calm strength, and the way he treated people with genuine respect. His impact on his patients, colleagues, community, and family will continue to live on for generations.

We, his classmates, are proud to have shared those early years with him, and we honor the legacy he leaves behind. He will be deeply missed, yet forever remembered with gratitude and admiration.

With heartfelt sympathy,
Fred
