Class of 1966
Air Force, 20+ Years
Spent my entire career in telecommunications. Stationed in such diverse places as Japan (7yrs), Johnston Atoll, the Azores, Hawaii (10yrs), Guam, Sunnyvale AFSTC, CA (where I met and married my wife Bev), Scott AFB, IL, Luke AFB, AZ and Shaw AFB, SC. The years in HI were fantastic. All the time was special duty assignments at Wheeler AFB which no longer exists. All-in-all, I'd do it again in a heartbeat!

Amphibious Assault Vehicle, mechanic. Tracked vehicle that takes the ground troops from ship to shore. Then provide ground assistance.

I was in the last year of the draft (would not have been drafted) and decided to enlist since I could not get a job with 1-A draft status. I signed up for 6 years and received advanced electronics training and became a Sonar Technician. I re-enlisted for 4 after 4 years for a total of 8 years. Most of my time was spent on the USS Glover (AGDE-1 then AGFF-1) which was a SONAR test platform. We spent a lot of time in the Bahamas area running SONAR tests. Looking back, this decision provided my wife and I a very stable base for our future.
