On Sept 7th, Cathy & I celebrated 27 yrs together, & 2 days later on Sept 9th we celebrated 23 yrs married. We were at the cusp of becoming empty-nesters. Zoë is 21, and we we're looking forward to seeing the amazing thing that lay ahead for her. All our debt was on track to be paid off in 5 years, and we were ready to grow old & spend the rest of our lives together. But without her, I'm not really looking forward to the path ahead of me. But as father, I still want to see the amazing things that Zoë will do with her life.
We are currently staying with my sister, about 1/2 hour from our home. Right now, the most difficult thing for me is night time. I never thought a little single mattress could feel so empty. Sleeping alone after 27 years really sucks. My sleep has been improving, but some nights are still very difficult.
