I knew Sandy from when we were kids together at summer camp (Camp Echo Lake, in Warrensburg, NY), in the early 1960s. He was a year older than me, and in camp that was no problem -- everybody knew and interacted with everybody -- but at South Side, being a year apart, pretty much put us on different planets... I remember him as a fast-moving and confident kid, maybe a little bit rough around the edges, but popular nevertheless. I was so shocked and sorry to hear about his passing all those years ago, he was the first young person I knew who had died, and as time went by, I remember thinking about all the things that he missed out, in life, and what a tragedy that was...
