| About Me | Conceived on the 4th of July in Siphnos, Greece (do the math). Baptized on July 30 at the Evangelismos Church, married on the very same spot July 31, 2010 to wonderful Maria. My two hard-working parents did their best for their three children, me and my dear sisters Kelly and Dimitra. Mom saw me get married, dad departed this world in 2007, but he was there too. Evangelismos was his beloved church. Can't thank God enough for my good friends. I have not kept up my blog, but you can check it out and I will get back to it eventually: http://constantinople1.blogspot.com/ Visit my newspaper, and subscribe to the website (though my video reports are free to all) at thenationalherald.com Saved from being a Met fan by my oldest friend, George Fonda Poole, in the magical year of Yaz, 1967, so the price of freedom from Flushing is a soft spot for the Red Sox (my dad and his dad lived and loved the City of Boston). So it was ugly in 2004. I got over it. The only other time the Red Sox knocked the Yankees out of the World Series was 1904. Once every 100 years, Boston wins. That's a good deal fellow Yankee fans. I created a great team who raised $10,000 for the Obama campaign. Take your time. You will thank me for that later. Educated in Brooklyn's public schools which were fantastic until South High School, and even there I was blessed with some great teachers, and again at Hofstra University, and later in grad school at Georgetown. Have not travelled as much as I would have liked, but had some amazing trips: to Constantinople in 1990, three times to Moscow in 1993 (saw the Parliament building being bombed, delivered a speech on the Orthodox Church and the Democratization of Russia on presidential election day) and best of all, a month in Greece in 2008, first time in Springtime (do it!) first time for pascha (magical!) first time in northern Greece and Thesaloniki (fantastic!). I have either read too many books, or not enough, but I have this bad habit of marking them up, so you know I really read them. I should taken painting lessons, and more than 1 year of piano, more than 2 semesters of ancient Greek, and more than 1 semester of French. I did however, teach myself to bat lefthanded at 25 and to be a pretty good pitcher at 30. At 5'4" 125 lbs, I got away with just a fastball for a long time. Now look out for the changeup. And if I'm in the outfield, you will still have to wait a while to go from first to third. So, Dean is still learning, hopefully still growing, though sadly, not physically. I'm learning not to argue as much and not so intensely. I am working on interrupting less, but don't hold your breath. And if you disagree with me, you better have footnotes. But after you walk away you will realize I paid attention and respect your point of view. And even if you thi...(read more) |
