About Major Dana Tartaglione, of Lubbock and Retired United States Air Force, was a loving husband and father who lost his life to cancer at age 73 on Monday afternoon, November 1, 2021. He was born on February 10, 1948, in Bronx, New York to the late Dominic Tartaglione and Josephine (Palladino) Tartaglione.

He met Cindy Williamson, the love of his life, and they were married on November 5, 2000, in Miami, Florida.

A native of Bronx, New York, he first entered the Air Force as an enlistee on November 7, 1967 and separated on November 7, 1972. He was commissioned through the Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps program at Utah State University in Logan, Utah with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1980. He graduated from Squadron Officers School in 1984.

After completing Administrative Officer Training, he served as administrative officer for the 526th Tactical Fighter Squadron, Ramstein Air Base, Germany. His next assignment saw him as the Headquarters Section Commander at Iraklion Air Station, Crete, Greece. After his return to the United States, he was assigned to the Air Training Command as Chief, International Training and later as Squadron Section Commander for Resource Management. He returned to Europe to become the Squadron Section Commander for the start up of a new fighter squadron for the 10th Tactical Fighter Wing at RAF Alconbury, England. While serving at Patrick Air Force Base, Florida he worked as a Resource Management Officer for DOD Managers Space Shuttle Support Office, Operations Officer for the 333rd US Air Force Recruiting Squadron and Chief of Social Actions for the 45th Space Wing.

Major Tartaglione’s decorations include the Air Force Commendation Medal with two oak leaf clusters, and the Joint Service Commendation Medal. Major Tartaglione retired from the United States Air Force in 1996.

Golfing with friends was his number one hobby, going to Yankee baseball games, fishing in Red River, New Mexico, and traveling the world with Cindy were the thrills of his life. Dana loved and cherished his pets, Lacy and Jeter, who have both passed away, and his current pet Enzo was his companion until the end.

Survivors include his wife, Cindy; two daughters, Jami Tartaglione of Tremonton, Utah, Abbi Gaetano and her husband Jeff of Ogden, Utah; two step-daughters, Jennifer Busby and her husband Jarrod of Lubbock and Leslie Koetting and her husband Michael of Lubbock; one step-son, Matt Rogers of Melbourne, Florida; one sister, Joanne Auston and her husband Jim of Brown Summit, North Carolina; eleven grandchildren, Jordyn Kaneko, Gage Kaneko, Sadie Kaneko, Zen Anderson, Olivia Anderson, Dayne Anderson, Isabella Busby, Bonnee Busby, Jude Busby, Cole Koetting and Cade Koetting; one great-grandchild, Conley Kaneko.

Celebration of Life Memorial Services will be held at 11 AM on Monday, November 8, 2021, at Redeemer Church, 6402 Elgin Avenue in Lubbock. Mr. Dusty Thompson, Lead Pastor of Redeemer Church, will be the officiant.

Honorary pallbearers will be Papo Hernandez, Denny Haley, Ryan Smith, Jim Auston, Michael Koetting, Jarrod Busby, Eddie Garcia, Roy Turner, Lee Cox and Charles Wells.
