| About Me | I graduated from Douglass June 1964 with a major in English and a minor in Elementary Education. By the time I graduated from college I was married to Ed Anderson who had graduated from Rutgers two years earlier and had my first child – a girl. We moved to the Penn State campus for Ed to get his Masters degree. That was followed by 2 years in Baltimore and 3 years in Ohio. By the time we moved to Lynchburg, Virginia my daughter had two younger brothers ages 4 and newborn. In the ten years that we lived in Lynchburg I earned a masters degree in remedial reading from Lynchburg College and taught remedial reading in a rural school. The family relocated back to NJ for five years (Randolph) when my husband changed jobs. I realized that we would probably stay on the move and left teaching because getting certifications in each state would be a hassle and because my children were now old enough for me to have a more demanding schedule. I went to Chubb Institute and got a certificate as a computer programmer- mainframe in those days. I worked for Prudential until we moved to Delaware due to another job change. Marine Midland(HSBC) and GE Aerospace employed me while in Delaware. By that time I was managing programmers rather than writing code. My job with Marine Midland did get me to go on a 19 day journey to HongKong. We lived in Delaware about 5 years until another job change took us to Little Rock, Arkansas. I worked for Acxiom and University Hospital in the ten years we lived there. Another job changed moved us to South Carolina. I retired at that point. We lived there for 2 years until Ed’s quintuple bypass failed and he died of a heart attack five years ago. I sold the house in S.C. and bought a cape cod house in Swarthmore, Pa one mile from my youngest son who is a chef and his family. His three children are 4, 8 and 11 – 2 boys and a girl. When I moved here I hads two golden retrievers but they passed on and have now been replaced by a thirteen pound dachshund. I am an avid quilter and spend some time each day on this hobby. I enter quilts in shows and make them for friends, family and needy children. I love reading and stay busy taking care of my house and babysitting for grandchildren. My health is good although I have had knee replacements in both knees. My older son is an air traffic controller living in Virginia. His two sons are in eighth and ninth grade. My daughter lives in Virginia as well and is using her systems engineering degree from Univ. of Va. as a manager at AOL. Her son is a junior at Harv...(read more) |
