Edward went to school in Eugene (Harris, Roosevelt, South Eugene) except for two years in France, 1966-68. At South Eugene, he was known as an excellent student and the best player on the chess team. His family moved to Oswego, NY, in 1969, where he finished high school.
Very few of us realized that he was also a talented bass vocalist. After college in western New York and some time singing part time in San Francisco, he moved to Paris to try it out as a full time profession. He eventually became a full-time member of the chorus of the Paris Opera, singing with another former Eugenean, Rebecca (Becky) Ruff Tepfer. The photo is from the cover of a CD from a concert he gave at the Atelier de la Main d'Or in Paris.
He died suddenly of a heart attack at age 35.
Ted was my close friend from age two, and I'm still friends with his brother and sister, who both live in Rochester, NY.
