About Nimmer, Richard A.
Nimmer, Richard A. Born March 30, 1939, left this life Sat., Oct. 8, 2011, for Heaven's "Big Band" at age 72. Preceded in death by his parents Walter and Ethel Nimmer and brothers Walter Jr. and Ronald (Carol) Nimmer. Beloved husband for 51 years to Joan (nee Schneider) Nimmer. Loving father and friend of Susan (Scott) Inzeo and Robert (Lynn) Nimmer. Proud grandpa of Scotty (Paula) Inzeo, Sarah (fiancé Cory Hagedorn) Inzeo, Stephanie Nimmer and Rachel Nimmer. Nephew of Gladys Klug. Brother of Roger (Judy) Nimmer. He will be further missed by nieces, nephews, other relatives, and cherished friends. Richard's first love was his family, yet he will always be remembered for his love of music and the life he devoted to it. Whether teaching music to Milwaukee Public School children, directing various youth bands, forming and directing a band with other retirees in Florida, playing in various community bands, or just playing the guitar around the camp fire - music wasn't what he did, it was who he was. Those who loved him most will dearly miss his loving support and guidance, his silly sense of humor, and his gentle, laid-back manner. But our memories of wonderful times spent with him "Up North" at the lake, watching him ride his old tractor "Ollie", Sunday afternoon Packer games, playing cards, or keeping him in good supply of books, will always keep him close. It is fitting that our final farewell and tribute come in the form of music. The leader of the band is tired and his eyes are growing old But his blood runs through my instrument and his song is in my soul My life has been a poor attempt to imitate the man I'm just a living legacy to the leader of the band Dan Fogelberg "Leader of the Band" "Have fun dancing to Big Band music!" Per Richard's request, no visitation or memorial service will be held. For those wishing to continue Richard's legacy of music, donations can be made to the Richard A. Nimmer Music Memorial Fund c/o Educators Credit Union, 15350 W. Howard Ave., New Berlin, WI 53151. All monies received will go to supplying music lessons, scholarships or instruments to children.
