About Everett C. Almeida III, 73, of Dighton, passed away on Wednesday, May 11, 2016 at Charlton Memorial Hospital in Fall River. He was the husband of the late Marie (Leiter) Almeida. Everett was born in Fall River the son of the late Everett C. Almeida Jr., and Belmira (Motta) Almeida. He was a graduate of Somerset High School class of 1960 and the Massachusetts School of Barbering in 1962. He began his career owning the Razors Edge Barber Shop in Somerset. Mr. Almeida then worked full time with the Massachusetts Army National Guard and then became a Police Officer for the Dighton Police Department for eight years. Mr. Almeida then worked for the Bristol County Sheriffs Department as a deputy. He then entered the United States Coast Guard Reserve and the Untied States Naval Reserve, serving aboard the USS Miller, and finishing his military service as Sergeant with the Massachusetts Army National Guard. While serving he worked for the Campus Police at Wheaton College and then became a steam fireman at the college for the facilities maintenance department. Everett enjoyed playing the banjo, harmonica, concertina and spoons. He played at the Salvation Army Sunday Services for many years. He was an avid weight lifter and accomplished wood carver. He was an assistant scout leader in Dighton and a member of the Dighton Police Association. He also loved being with his dachshund Winston which gave him great company, sailing on the Taunton River, cruising in his 1939 Ford and canoeing and kayaking. Survivors are a sister. Elizabeth A.
