About	Dorothy L. (Murphy) Deveney, 70, of Somerset, passed away on Friday June 5, 2015 at her residence with her family by her side, after a courageous sixteen month battle with pancreatic cancer. She was the wife of the late James E. Deveney. Dorothy was born in Fall River, the daughter of the late James E. and Mary (Harrington) Murphy. She was a graduate of Somerset High School class of 1963 and then earned her bachelors degree in education from Salve Regina University in 1967. Mrs. Deveney taught 6th and 7th grade at the Somerset Middle School for thirty years, retiring in 2003. While working she also earned her Masters Degree in Education. Dorothy was a devoted grandmother who cherished the time she spent with her family and friends.Dorothy was a communicant of Saint Patrick Church in Somerset. Mrs. Deveney was a loyal Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots fan. She also enjoyed studying history and traveling. The family would like to thank Dr. John Yang and his nurse Rachel at Hudner Oncology for the care and compassion they provided to Dorothy and her family. Survivors are a daughter Elizabeth M. DeCoste and her husband Robert of Rehoboth, MA; three cherished grandchildren: Caroline, Meredith and Lauren; along with many nieces and nephews; lifelong friends: Charlene Dondis of Portsmouth, RI; Susan Dumais of North Conway, NH; and June Murphy of Somerset, MA. She was the sister of the late Joan M. Whittington, Mary E. Belanger and Claire F. Thibodeau.
