About | SIMPSON, John B. 85, of Nashua, New Hampshire died August 31, 2010 in Nashua. Born on February 7, 1925 in Brookline, Massachusetts, a son of the late Harold and Hazel (Boone) Simpson. Resident of Nashua since November 1998, and previously lived in Boxford, Massachusetts. Husband of Dorothy (Porteri) Simpson. Received his Bachelor and Master's degree at Boston University where he also played football for 4 years. Throughout his career, Mr. Simpson was the Director of Athletics at Boston University, Football Coach at Colby College in Waterville, Maine, and Director of Athletics at Somerset High School in Somerset, Massachusetts. One of the Founders of Hockey East and also Chairman of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), Ice Hockey committee. Communicant of the Church of the Good Shepherd in Nashua. During World War II, he served in the United States Marine Corps and was recalled for the Korean War period. He was predeceased by two sisters, Norma DiMatteo and Shirley Simpson. In addition to his wife Dorothy of 59 years of Nashua, survivors include two daughters, Judith S. Maglione and her husband Phillip of Essex, VT and Laura C. Joyce and her husband John of Long Island, NY; a son, Stephen L. Simpson, MD and his wife Kathy of Boxboro, MA; seven grandchildren, John, Wayne, Brooke, Alex, Liz, Connor and Luke; three sisters, Hazel Lunardo of Boxboro, MA, Marilyn Dalznll and Jack Clancy of Newburyport, MA, and Sandra Philpott and her husband Herbert of Boston, MA; two brothers, Harold B. Simpson and his wife Jean of Hamilton, MA and Robert B. Simpson and his wife Charlotte of Waterville Valley, NH; and numerous nieces, nephews, and their children and grandchildren. |
