About	Patricia L. Miller, 58, of New Bedford, succumbed to a long term illness on Sunday, May 4, 2008. She died peacefully and was surrounded by her family and friends. She leaves behind her beloved spouse Stanley David Sawicki, married 23 years; and her cats " Merlin and Sammy." She was the beloved daughter of Geraldine "Gerry" (Gallego) Miller and the late Franklin S. Miller of Somerset, MA. She is survived by her sister Sharyn J. Gassmann of Kansas, her nephews James, Jeffery and grand-niece Lillian Gassmann, of Kansas City, KS. She is also survived by three aunts, Gwen Cassidy and her husband John of Fall River, Jennie Dion and her husband Camille of San Jose, CA, and Doris Miller of Providence, RI; an uncle Richard Miller and his wife Elaine of Tiverton, RI; and numerous cousins from Maine, MA, TX, CA and CT. Her father-in-law Stanley S. Sawicki from New Bedford and her brother-in-law John Sawicki and his wife Diane of Las Vegas. Patricia graduated from Somerset High School, Class of 1967; University of Mass at Dartmouth, Class of 1973 and Boston School of Social Work where she obtained her MSW (Masters of Social Work) Class of 1987. She was employed at the Mass. Department of Social Services, Protective Services, for 28 years, as a Program Manager. She was well known for her dedication to the protection of the children and the families that she worked with. She had received several awards for her work. She enjoyed a wonderful life with her husband, family and friends and was always willing to give a helping hand and she thoroughly enjoyed extensive traveling.
