About	George Herbert Tompkins, 83, a resident of Somerset and Boston, passed away November 26, 2020, after a brief illness. A son of the late Charles H. Tompkins, a long-time Somerset Water Commissioner, and the late Mary (Dailey) Tompkins, he was a 1954 graduate of Somerset High School, and attended both Durfee Tech and Boston University. He served three years in the US Army, stationed at Fort Devens. George was employed with Whitman & Howard Engineers of Boston and Waltham. In later years he worked with McCarthy Surveyors. He is survived by his sister Dorothy DArruda and her husband Dr. Jose DArruda of Fayetteville, NC and Tiverton, RI; also several nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his brother Charles and sister Mary.
