About	Marilyn M. (Fontes) Souza, 65, of Somerset, passed away on Thursday, June 23, 2016 at Saint Annes Hospital in Fall River. She was the wife of forty-two years to Stephen C. Souza. Marilyn was born in Fall River the daughter of the late Daniel and Laurinda (Medeiros) Fontes. She was a graduate of Somerset High School class of 1968. Marilyn then earned her associates degree from BCC and then took various courses in social work and earned numerous certifications. Mrs. Souza worked for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Division of Medical Assistance as a social worker in the Taunton office for thirty eight years, retiring as a Manager of Quality Assurance in 1995. Mrs. Souza was elected to the Somerset School Committee in 1994 and served on the committee for six years. Marilyn was the president of the Social Workers Union SEIU Local# 509 in Boston. Mrs. Souza was also very active with the Ladies Auxiliary at the American Legion, Warren S. Hathaway Post# 228 in Somerset. She volunteered at the homeless shelter in Fall River and was a member of the Somerset Democratic Party. Survivors besides her husband are a daughter: Jody A. Souza and her companion Robert Barboza of Fall River, MA; a son: Jamison D. Souza and his wife Jennifer of Somerset, MA; a step son: Christopher Souza of Scituate, MA; eight grandchildren: Collin, Bobbie Erika, Mason, Emily, Isabelle, Devin, Harrison, and Teagan, along with two great grandchildren.
