TDY's to Spain, Italy, Florida, Nevada, Canada, Phillipines, Norway, Egypt, Oman, Bahrain. Deployed to the U.A.E. in the 1st Gulf War in 1990. Worked Weapons Control Systems (WCS) on F-4 C's and D's and Radar, INS on F-16's. Retired in 1994 after 22 1/2 years in service at Misawa AB, Japan as a Master Sergeant Production Superintentant for the 14th Fighter Squadron, 432'd Fighter Wing.

Marine Corp. William Mathew DeSpirito of 417 Abel Avenue Solvay. was killed in action on Iowa Jima his sister, Mrs. Mary Napolihas been informed.


Corp. DeSpirito, 23, was a son of Benjamin DeSpirito of Cortland but had lived, at the home of his sister before entering service.

A graduate of Solvay High School and a former employe of the Iroquois China Company, he had been in combat in the Marshall Islands Tinian, Rio, Mour, Guam and Saipan.

He is survived also by a twin brother, Benjamin DeSpirito, Jr:, and one sister Miss Frances DeSpirito both of Solvay,
