Drafted a month after graduation. Panic time was the feeling of the day. Went to the Navy and joined and two days later I was off to boot camp flying to San Diego.Spent four years on active duty. Started my collage days culminating in 1973 with graduation from University of Tennessee with a Dental degree.Back to active duty as a officer and was retired as Captain(O-6) in 2003.Many duty stations and awards with lots of sea stories over the 39 years of service.

After graduation in winter of 1971 I received my draft notice. Tried to enlist in the Navy but the recruiter was not in that day in Huntington. Only Army, Marines and Air Force recruiters were in that fateful day. Waited for hours for the Navy recruiter to show up but then walked in the Air Force recruiter and told him my story. Two months later I am off to Lackland AFB, Texas, scared to death. After boot camp I went to Sheppard AFB, Texas for Tech School training. Meet the love of life from Cincinnati, Ohio and married in spring of 1972. Tours of duty included Karamersel ,Turkey and remote mountain tops for 22 months, Ft. Meade Maryland (NSA) 4 years, Athens Greece more remote mountain tops for 18 months, followed by Wright Patterson AFB, Ohio. Been married since going on 41+ YEARS to my best friend and LOVER.
