About	Michael W. Blankenship passed away peacefully in his sleep on February 6th, 2026, at the age of 76 in Murtaugh, Idaho. Mike was born on September 28, 1949, in Iowa City, Iowa. He attended Skyline High School class of 68’ and Utah State University, Logan, Utah. Mike lettered in swimming at Skyline, was a member of the Quartermasters Car Club, a member of DeMolay, a member of Kaibab Masonic Lodge #25, an accomplished mechanic, race car enthusiast, baseball player and skier. He was a volunteer firefighter in Utah and Murtaugh, Idaho, where he resided with many friends and family. He enjoyed hunting, including muzzle loaders and attended the Mountain Man Rendezvous for many years with his son David. Mike had a huge passion for motorcycles and fast cars throughout his high school years and his entire adult life. GTO’s, Shelby’s, Charger’s, Corvette’s and Harley Davidson’s, he enjoyed owning, racing and working on them all. Mike is survived by his wife, Patti Jo (Harris) Blankenship, sons David and Michael, sisters who attended Skyline, Chris class of ‘69, Dawn class of ‘74 and Lisa class of ‘75. He is also survived by Patti’s large family which includes children, grandchildren and great grandchildren whom he loved dearly and brought him great joy in life. I, David Hargreaves class of ‘68, was proud to be his lifetime friend and very saddened with his passing. He will be greatly missed by many.
