About | It is with a heavy broken heart and deep sorrow that after a courageous and brave fight my dear baby sister Dolly lost her battle on Sunday April 27, 2025. Dolly passed away peacefully with the love of her life, her high school sweetheart and dear husband Tony by her side. It was Dolly's wish to have a private family church service at St Vladimir and Olga church. Dolly was laid to rest today at All Saints Cemetery beside my parents and oldest sister Okcana (Sandy). Those who knew Dolly know she was devoted and loyal friend, sister, wife, and mother and very humble person putting others before herself as evident of her entire adult professional career as a health provider. After graduating from Sisler High School with honors she enrolled at University of Manitoba for 4 years graduating with honors with a Bachelor of nursing degree. Immediately after she went to work at HSC for 2 years. She applied and got a job as a Public Health Nurse for the City of Winnipeg, a position she held for 35 years till her cancer was diagnosed. She had a wealth of medical knowledge and literally was a doctor, without the degree. Dolly provided many less fortunate families in our community with health assistance making many visits to day cares and schools. She took great pride and passion in helping others In 1993 during a slo-pitch game umpire Terry Dupuis collapsed and had no pulse. Dolly along with Dwayne Binns from the Cruzers performed CPR and brought Terry back to life before medics arrived. Their actions saved his life Dolly was a very competitive person and gifted athlete always wanting to succeed. Humble in victory and gracious in defeat she always put the team first. Dolly was also the first woman in Manitoba to earn a black belt in Taekwondo at the age of 14 accomplishing this in 2 years. Dolly was very grateful and appreciative of the care provided by nurses and aids in her time of need at Woman's hospital for the near 2 months she was there. She was extremely floored when one senior nurse caring for her remembered working with Dolly when she was at HSC, sharing stories of yester year brought a smile to Dolly. Our family is forever grateful for the compassion care given to Dolly. We thank you. You were taken away from us much too soon Dolly. We will forever miss you love you and never forget you. No more pain little sister until we meet again Rest Peacefully Vichnaya Pamyat written by her brother Terry Dmytryk |
