WOLODYMYR “WALTER” DEPUTAT
September 5, 1952 – April 13, 2025
It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Walter Deputat on April 13, 2025.
Walter was born in Winnipeg in 1952 to Michael and Katherine Deputat. He is survived by his loving wife, Nancy; sister, Olga (Ivan); and nephew, Michael (Laura) and extended family.
Growing up on Selkirk Avenue in Winnipeg's North End, Walter was a choir boy at Saint Vladimir's and Olga's Ukrainian Catholic Church.
Walter spent the majority of his professional career at Bristol Aerospace, followed by Jeld-Wen. In his spare time, he enjoyed bowling, playing crib and pool, and watching his favourite TV shows, including The Big Bang Theory, Young Sheldon, Star Trek, and MAS*H. An avid sports fan, Walter passionately supported the Winnipeg Jets and Blue Bombers, regardless of their season's outcome. He cherished annual Grey Cup parties at Ivan's with his friends.
Walter had a passion for music, enjoying genres from Frank Sinatra to Led Zeppelin to Kenny G. He and Nancy treasured a cruise to Alaska and sightseeing trips to the Maritimes, including Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, and Halifax, as well as quick getaways to Las Vegas.
A celebration of his life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 14, 2025, at 603 Wellington Crescent. As per Walter's wishes, cremation has taken place, and a private interment will follow at a later date.
