About DARLENE LESLIE HEFFERTON

(née SALOME)

August 2, 1943 - September 30, 2024

Peacefully in her sleep, Darlene was called to meet her Maker.
She was predeceased by her Baba (Anna Kolodinski), her parents, Michael (Mitch) and Josepha (Jessie) Salome, and her loving husband Frederick (Jack) Hefferton. Left behind to cherish her memory are her daughters, Alana (Gordon) and Amberley (Kai), her adoring grandsons, Brett, Kyle, Troy Stevens and Shaw Jacob, brother Ron (Jeananne), extended family in Newtown, NF and many nephews, nieces and friends.
In her early years she lived on Alfred Avenue in north Winnipeg and went to Gordon Bell and Sisler High School (where she was a cheerleader). She also excelled in ballet and won many scholarships. At 16, along with her friends Flo and Marilyn, she worked at Fort Osborne Barracks and in the Navy Reserves. It wasn't long after that she met, "Mr. Blue Eyes", Jack Hefferton, a handsome R.C.M.P. Constable. They were soon married and stationed at various detachments across Manitoba and Ontario.
Darlene enjoyed her work at several offices and made many lifelong friends. She cherished spending time with her family, including trips to Disney World and Hawaii. She loved all the family pets. Most recently she resided at Kiwanis Homes and Donwood Manor in North Kildonan, where she was always "on the go" and having fun! Special thanks to Jennifer Kappy and Kimberley at Donwood for making Mom's last year special.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, October 19, 2024, in the Sanctuary at Grace Lutheran Church, 211 Kimberly Ave., Winnipeg at 2:00 p.m. Pastor Wanda Derksen officiating. Following the Service, attendees are invited to go Glow Bowling with Darlene's family at Rossmere Lane, 1042 Henderson Hwy.

"Don't cry for me now I have died, for I'm still here by your side.

My body's gone but my soul is here, please don't shed another tear, I am still here, I'm all around, only my body lies in the ground."
