About	RENETTE DENTON (nee TURNEY) On February 3, 2015 with family by her side, Renette was peacefully united with angels from above. Renette was diagnosed with terminal cancer in October, 2014. She took the news with dignity and grace. Throughout her battle, Renette displayed exceptional strength, courage, and showed us all how to handle life's difficulties. Renette will always be remembered for her delicate nature, self-giving soul, and unconditional love. Renette was predeceased by father Harry Turney, mother Doreen (Sam Goltzman), brother Bill (Phyillis Turney). She will be forever missed by husband Pat, son Jesse, daughter Lindsay (Kai), grandchildren (Tristan and Silas), brother Ray (Ruth), brother Don (Susan), sister Suzie (Darcy), special niece Lisa (Darrin), many nieces and nephews, and her little dog "Nasty," who followed her everywhere (even to Europe and Egypt), and was her steady companion for 11 years. Renette was born on August 21, 1954 in Winnipeg, Manitoba. She attended Sisler High School and shortly thereafter began work as a clerk for National Records. From there, she was promoted to Assistant Manager of Music City on Portage Ave. Renette met Pat when she was 18; they dated for several years and married at the age of 30. In Renette's own words, "I loved you at 18, and I still love you at 60". Family life began when Lindsay was born, and a few years later Jesse joined the family. Renette has always been grateful for Pat being the sole provider, which allowed her to stay home to raise the children. Once the kids were in school, Renette enrolled at Red River College, and was certified as a Health Care Aide. She worked part time for W.R.H.A. for 15 years and retired at age 54. After their retirement, Renette and Pat started travelling. They moved to Winnipeg Beach and started to spend winters at their condo in Sharm El Sheik, Egypt. Over the years they vacationed in Egypt, Austria, Dominican Republic, Italy, Switzerland and Hawaii. Renette lived life for her children and family. She was especially proud of Lindsay and Jesse for what they had accomplished. They both attained black belts in Tae Kwon Do at a young age. On a trip to Cancun Lindsay met her Prince Charming, Kai Schoppitsch, a professional soccer player. At the tender age of 19 she moved to Austria to marry Kai and begin her fairy tale life. Lindsay has since become fluent in German. She studied Medical Assistance, and is now employed at the Viva Detox Clinic. Lindsay and Kai have two sons, Tristan and Silas; making Renette a proud "Bama". After Tae Kwon Do Jesse went on to play premier soccer. Jesse moved to Austria to attend University of Vienna. While living in Austria Jesse played semi-professional soccer with the Vienna Celtics. Upon his return to Winnipeg while attending University of Winnipeg he played for the Wesmen and received his Bachelor in Kinesiology. At home, Renette had many daily visitors including squirrels, chipmunks and birds. She took pride in making sure she always had a supply of nuts and seeds for her little friends. She also loved flowers and had a green thumb when it came to her garden. One of her many talents was cooking and Renette will be remembered for her famous cabbage rolls and Yorkshire pudding. One of Renette's favorite things was the annual family picnic at Bird's Hill Park. Many cherished memories were made playing baseball with the family. Renette felt truly blessed and grateful for her wonderful life, loving husband, wonderful children and close knit family. Renette would like to thank her brothers and sister-in-laws for their love, support and delicious meals that were hand delivered. For my sister Suzie; you are my angel and I love you for being with me every step of this journey. I am forever grateful to your family for their love and support. For Lisa; you are my sunshine and I love you for always being there to help with anything. Renette would like to thank her amazing doctor Christine Polimeni for superb care, going above and beyond and making her diagnosis easier to accept. Renette would like to acknowledge Howard and Gina Maslove, her neighbors at Winnipeg Beach. "Thank you for all you have done." Renette was truly grateful for the outstanding staff at CancerCare Manitoba and St. Boniface Palliative care. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Cancer-Care Manitoba, Palliative Care Manitoba, or any pet shelter, "because our little fury orphan friends need loving homes." I'd like the memory of me to be a happy one, I'd like to leave an afterglow of smiles when life is done. I'd like to leave an echo whispering softly down the ways, Of happy times and laughing times and bright and sunny days. I'd like the tears of those who grieve, to dry before the sun, Of happy memories I leave behind when my life is done. A private service will be held.
