About JOAN ROSE
(nee OPITZ, formerly WAKEFIELD)
October 26, 1955 - December 6, 2019

I was lucky in life.
I got to be 64.
What made me so lucky … my children, the two most inimitable beings in this world; their soulmates; my grandbabies - whom I fought so hard to live for; my husband Rob; my parents; and my entire family.
Thank you for the incredible memories and all the enjoyable times together.
I am especially thankful for:
Rob, my fun-loving husband, for 33 years of happiness and true love.
Michael (Wakefield), my remarkable son, his endearing wife and my daughter, Christa (Hosein), their sons/my astounding grandsons, Rocky, Layton and Tyson.
Monica (Gill, nee Wakefield), my extraordinary daughter; her phenomenal husband and my son, Dave (Gill); their children/my most adorable grandbabies, Grayson and Kenley.
Kailynne Taylor, my extremely sweet granddaughter.
Dorothy (Opitz), my mom, the heart and soul of our family.
Robert (Opitz), my dad, the strength and energy of our family, who we've missed since 2001.
Jacquelyn (Jackie) (Hutchinson, nee Opitz), my life's spirit, my sister, her noble husband Derrick, and charming children (my kids too), Hailey, Nick and Mckay.
Robert (Bob Jr., Opitz), the wit of our family, and his outstanding daughters, Kelly and Erin.
Judy (Silver, nee Opitz), my sister, the brilliance of our family, who we've missed since 2008; her daughters, Saundra (Lubkey), husband Murray, and beautiful children, Brody, Jordy and Rory. Roberta (Marsh), husband Ryan, and amazing children, Ryden, Reghan and Rhea. Adrienne Silver, husband Will, and delightful children, Tristan and Kody.
Fudge, my loyal and loving dog, who kept me going every day.
Bev, Shawne, my friends among many, relatives galore, my neighbours, I was thrilled we remained close.
Tuesday girls, my METS BC sisters, a mystery of miracles, my soul family, thank you to those angels and those living 'in spite of the disease.'
Dr. Jagmit Arneja, the doctor who saved my life, whose generous care went above and beyond, finding my disease that gave me time to live.
Dr. Eren Beshara, the doctor who gave me amazing medical care and encouragement throughout this journey, along with Taylor and Shelly.
The nurses, my angels, in the St. Boniface CancerCare treatment room, who take such gentle care.
It is by love that we accept the
unacceptable. Love is energy.
Though our body disappears, our
energy, our spirit, our love lives on.
I have chosen not to have a service so our grief can now heal.
