About | EMIL JOHN SOHOR August 3, 1955 - December 16, 2023 My beloved husband, Emil, passed away on December 16, 2023, at the age of 68. I, Sandi (nee Hur), will always cherish his memory, his one-of-a-kind personality, and the more than 42 years we shared together. Also grieving his loss are his cousins, extended family, and many friends. Emil was a caring son and brother; he was predeceased by his parents, Emil Sr. and Josephine; and his sister and brother-in-law, Marilyn and Lub Manastersky. Emil was a retired City of Winnipeg fire fighter. In his younger years he was an avid hockey and lacrosse player and was dedicated to the practice of Kempo (martial arts). The “outdoors” was always a great part of Emil’s life: hunting, fishing, biking, a ‘road trip’ of any kind, or a simple walk (always with a dog, or two, by his side). And not to forget his passion for archery. Perhaps rough around the edges, he had a huge heart, was a wonderful husband, a great brother-in-law and uncle, and a good friend to many. A heartfelt thank you to the ambulance crew and ER staff at Selkirk Regional Health Centre. A celebration of Emil’s life will be held on Friday, January 5, 2024, at 11 a.m. at Holy Eucharist Parish Centre, 460 Munroe Avenue, Winnipeg. In Emil’s memory, and in lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Cancer Care Manitoba, or D’Arcy’s A.R.C. (animal rescue centre).
