About DIANE (KUCHMA) MCCLELLAN

On July 17, surrounded by her family, Diane McClellan peacefully passed away in her home.
Diane was born in Winnipeg on July 2nd, 1947. She was the second child of her Lorette, Manitoba parents. Raised in Winnipeg’s North End, she was part of the class of ’64 at Sisler High School. She met her husband John McClellan (Montreal), while working at the car rental offices at the Winnipeg International Airport. John and Diane built their lives following opportunities in the car rental business. They lived in Vancouver, London and Hamilton before buying their first home in Beamsville, Ontario and beginning their family. Following another work-related move, they transplanted their young family to the south end of Winnipeg in 1982.
Diane’s talents lay in her creativity and her remarkable ability to connect with people. A talented “maker”, she was a professionally trained florist and had a certificate in apparel design from the U of M. When she wasn’t outfitting her daughters in skating costumes or swimwear, her hands were busy with knitting projects and baking delicious treats.
As she was such a dedicated and generous friend, many considered Diane to be in their close circle. She was a faithful volunteer and enjoyed her roles working with the Girl Guides of Canada and at the Victoria General Hospital. Always ready to “make a joyful noise”, Diane was a proud and long-standing member of Winnipeg’s Women of Note choir. Most notably, she cherished the years she spent meeting weekly with the incredible women of her Y Neighbours group.
When remembering Diane, please imagine her as a teenage judo student, or a fencing star; as a young woman riding her motorcycle over the Arlington Street bridge. Consider her walking her Scottie dogs through snowstorms, taking to Winnipeg skies in a hot air balloon or going to the Westminster dog show. Finally, imagine her nestled simply into her paradise, the warmth of her family home.
Diane is survived by her husband John; daughters, Shannon Pinkowski (Jeff), Wendy McClellan and Susie McClellan; grandson Nicholas Pinkowski; brother Bill Kuchma; sister-in-law Heather Scheigetz (John), and numerous nieces and nephews.
Diane is predeceased by parents John and Mary Kuchma, in-laws Don and Helen McClellan, infant son Jeffrey, brother-in-law Rick McClellan, and sisters-in-law Sue McClellan and Marianne Kuchma.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Victoria Hospital Foundation.
A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date.
