About LINDA DARLENE EVERETT

(nee CORRIGAL)

1944 - 2023

Linda Everett passed away peacefully in Winnipeg June 14, 2023, surrounded by her beloved family and her loving husband Harvey.
Linda was born September 5, 1944, in Winnipeg and grew up in the North End, first living on Selkirk Avenue and then William Avenue (where the hospital is now). Her dad famously had a large and well-tended garden outside their house on Selkirk Avenue.
Linda was born into a large family. She was predeceased by Iris, Norm, Audrey, Larry; and is survived by Val, Sheron and Dwight. It was a very close family, although akin to almost having three separate families as the age differences were so varied.
Linda was especially close to sister Val (Newmarket, Ontario) and sister Sheron (Winnipeg, Manitoba). She would talk for hours about Val’s husband Ray (affectionately called “unc”) and how much fun they would have as a foursome. Every Saturday evening at Harvey and Linda’s was Chinese food and card games.
Linda was an avid athlete in high school, playing volleyball and participating on the track team. She had a lot of friends and always excelled in school and especially in math.
Linda met Harvey when she was 19 and he was 24, when they both worked for the federal government. They have been lovingly married for 55 years.
Linda held a senior position with the Federal Government and was integral with the implementation of the computerized payroll system. She was so highly respected that after she retired when her daughter Alison was born, they asked her to come back to work to help fix the multitude of problems with the new Phoenix government payroll system implemented after her retirement. Linda politely declined, as she was devoted to their family, their children, Greg and Ali, their home on Athlone Drive in Winnipeg and her position as Church Secretary for St. Andrew’s Anglican Church.
Linda survived both cancer and then a stroke in November 2019. She was very religious and relied on her faith to get her through these tough times. Mom was a much loved and respected member of the church and was the glue that held the church and parishioners together for the many years she served as Church Secretary.
Linda was well known to all her family and friends as an extremely kind, loving and intelligent person who lived her whole life making the world a better place. She was also known for her sharp wit and her frequent (but kind) sarcasm.
Linda loved and adored her husband Harvey, children, Greg (Colleen) and Alison (Dave); and grandkids, Sydney, Ryden, Madison and Dawson; as well as her nieces and nephews, Heather, Caroline, Jim, and Arthur.
In lieu of flowers, mom’s wishes are for either food or monetary donations to go to Agape Table.
A short obituary with service details will come at a later date.

We love you mom and it’s not goodbye but see you later.
