About JOHN E. WALKER

On April 1, 2019 at Health Sciences Centre, John Edward Walker passed away peacefully at the age of 77 years.
John leaves to cherish his memory Gisele, his beloved wife of 51 years, brother George Walker (Claire), nieces, Kristin Walker (Gail), Jennifer Neilson (David), sisters-in-law,
Regina Eyssens (Richard), Carmen Matthews (David) and brother-in-law Ralf Seifert along with many more nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents, Leslie and Dorothy Walker.
John was born and raised in Winnipeg, graduated from Sisler High School and served in the HMCS Chippewa Navy
Reserves. He joined the Winnipeg Fire
Department in 1963, working throughout the city during his career. He was a dedicated Firefighter and retired Battalion Chief in 2001 with 38 years of exemplary service. In retirement he was an active participant in the Fire Department Honour Guard to pay
respectful tribute to his colleagues.
Johnnie, as he was often called, was a kind and loving husband, brother, uncle and friend to many. Known for his generous nature, sense of humour and his infectious laughter. He enjoyed trap shooting, playing golf and
travelling from coast to coast for the Grey Cup games. In retirement John and Gisele
enjoyed travelling and cruising to many great destinations. John always enjoyed watching golf and following both the Bombers and the Jets. We mourn his passing but will keep his memory forever in our hearts.
The family wishes to thank the staff at Health Sciences Centre for their care and compassion.
