Graduation Year Class of 1959
Date of Passing Jul 14, 2018
About ERNIE TASHE On July 14, 2018, we lost our father, grandfather, partner, friend, teacher, mentor and guide. Dad passed away after living with cancer for a number of years - and that is how he approached his illness, as something he lived with, rather than "suffered from". The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff at Maples Long Term Care who cared for Dad and the family with kindness, compassion and humour. As a young man, Dad worked at Dominion Stores and later attended Red River Community College and the University of Manitoba earning his degree in Pedagogy. He taught Business Administration at Kildonan East Regional Secondary School and ran "71-Plus", the in-school retail store, for many years before switching to teaching an introductory computer class. Dad loved photography and took many photos for the school yearbook. Holidays and family vacations were always documented in pictures. He spent countless hours scanning his photo albums so he could share electronic copies with his children. Education was of paramount importance to Dad. He supported his children with school, sports and music lessons. He joined the executive of the Maple Leaf Community Club and was part of the formation of Park City West Community Club, becoming club President. Dad had an interest in politics and loved to debate any and all issues. He liked to experiment in the kitchen and his "French fry soup" became family lore. He was a planner and rarely did a conversation not include the phrase "get out your sharp pencil". Dad loved to travel and enjoyed trips throughout Canada, the United States, Mexico, the Dominican Republic, Europe, Australia and Shanghai. His favorite trips, however, were always to see his children and grandchildren in Alberta and British Columbia. His family was everything to him. Dad was predeceased by his parents, Mary and Henry Tashe; his in-laws Paul and Irmgard Herkt; and his wife Inge. Dad is survived by his daughter Barbara (Gerald) and grandchildren Carolyn (Heike) and Eric (Mikaela); son Norman (Tasha) and grandchildren Nolan, Savannah and Murdoch; and son David (Emma); as well as his partner Erika and her family. Dad also leaves behind numerous friends and the family would especially like to thank Bob and Carol Anderson, Lorne Kramble and Paul Laroque who have been huge supports to both Dad and the family. In accordance with Ernie's wishes, a private family interment will be held at Glen Lawn Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society. We love you, Dad. Your legacy lives on. Family and friends may sign a Book of Condolence at www.glenlawn.ca Glen Lawn Funeral Home 204-982-7550
