About	RONALD FREDERICK SERBIN Peacefully at home Ron Serbin passed away on December 28, 2022 in his sleep at the age of 81. Ron is survived by his wife Onny Pachal; children, Corrine and Ron Jr.; granddaughters, Holly Proulx, (Liam), and Nicole Proulx, (Jones); and brother Robert, (Brian). Dad was predeceased by his first wife Murielle Serbin (nee Hindmarsh); grandparents, William and Pauline; parents, Fred and Gladys (nee Fabro); sister Diane Scaletta, and brother Vance. Dad grew up on Lily Street and attended Argyle Elementary School. He later attended Sisler High school. In later years he would meet with friends from Sisler on the first Tuesday of the month and reminisce. Dad married my Mom Murielle Hindmarsh in 1960 and were happily married until my Mother's passing in 1999. It was with great fortune that my Dad later met Onny Pachal. They tied the knot in 2003. Dad and Onny had 19 great years together traveling all over Western Canada. I never worried about my Dad after he met Onny. She took great care of him. Dad worked at McDiarmid Lumber as a young man. He later tried sales and took to it like a fish to water. He was a salesman, and later a manager for Gestetner. When my father was a child, he would buy pop for a dime and sell it in the neighbourhood office buildings for twenty-five cents, then return the bottles for a nickel. He was a born entrepreneur. A defining moment in his life was when he bought a dilapidated sword for two dollars, cut down the blade and sold it for twenty-five. My Dad started to collect and sell antique weapons. He was one of the largest antique weapons dealers in Western Canada. He even appraised museum collections for insurance companies so vast was his knowledge of antique weapons. My Mom and Dad opened an antique shop on Corydon Avenue in 1978 and ran it successfully for nineteen years. After my Mother's passing Dad continued doing antique gun shows across Western Canada where he developed many close friendships. Nothing thrilled my Dad more than doing a deal. He especially liked dealing with his friends from Selim's Antiques. Dad came from that group of guys in the North end of Winnipeg who could make a living off of their wits, buy for five, sell for fifty. The family wishes to thank the Doctors and Nurses at the Asper Centre where my father had successful bypass surgery in 2016 and the Doctors and Nurses at CancerCare where he underwent a procedure in 2020. We would also like to thank his family Doctor Jim Sutherland who took wonderful care of him, going above and beyond what could reasonably be expected. The families' hearts are heavy with grief at losing the family patriarch, the only silver lining in this is that my Dad had a wonderful Christmas, and was doing great. He passed exactly as he wished, peacefully in his sleep. We will miss you greatly Dad, Love your Family. As per Dad's wishes there will be no service.
