About MARIANNA PATRICIA MUZYKA (nee MUSICK) It is with heartfelt sadness that we announce the passing of Marianna Muzyka on October 31, 2010. She will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her beloved husband of 46 years, Peter Muzyka; her children, Brian (Laryssa), Carolyn (Tod) and Jacquie (Ron); her grandchildren, Arkadya and Lukia, Jaya and Cally, Jacob and Tyler; sister Elaine (Wayne); sisters-in-law, Elizabeth (Loyd), Diane (Robert) and her extended family of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. Marianna was predeceased by her father John and mother Olga. Marianna was born in Winnipeg on March 20, 1942. After becoming a Registered Nurse in 1963, Marianna continued with her studies and inspired nursing students for the next 17 years as a nursing instructor at St. Boniface Hospital. Her passion for learning and helping others didn't stop there. While working full-time and raising three children, she managed to complete her certificates in Adult Education and Health Care Management and in 1984 her Baccalaureate Degree in Administrative Studies at the University of Winnipeg. She held several director positions at Seven Oaks General Hospital and sat on numerous boards and committees which included Manitoba Association of Registered Nurses, Manitoba Health Organization and the Catholic Health Association of Canada before she finally retired from her last position as the Executive Director of St. Joseph's Personal Care Home. Volunteering with the church was also very important to Marianna. She was a Past President and longtime member of the Ukrainian Catholic Woman's League at St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church. Marianna enjoyed travelling, bowling, gardening, golfing, camping and curling with friends and family. But most of all she looked forward to the time she spent with her grandchildren. Baba's visits were looked forward to with anticipation as she never tired of reading books, playing cards, games or make believe with them. Mom - You have been a special blessing. Your hands always helping; Your arms always open; Your face full of smiles; Your ears ready to listen; Your heart made of gold. Love you forever. Prayers will be sung 7:00 p.m. Thursday, November 4 and Divine Liturgy will be celebrated 9:30 a.m. Friday, November 5, both at St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church, 737 Bannerman Ave. In lieu of flowers, donations to the St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church Wheelchair / Elevator fund would be greatly appreciated.
