About	DONNA RUTH STANBRA (nee STEWART), Ph.D On Tuesday, January 18, 2011,Donna Stanbra passed away at the age of 85 years. Donna was born in 1925 in St. Jeanne Baptiste, Mb. Her loving parents were Thomas Edward and Ruth Kathleen Stewart. She had two dear siblings, Dorothy and Joan. She was predeceased by her parents, two sisters and husband Norm. Left to mourn are sister-cousins Del of Winnipeg and Carole of Hamilton. Also, many cousins, nieces, nephews and her soul mate, Hans, who was so very kind to her during her illness. Donna received her education in Manitoba except for some Post-Graduate work, such as her Ph.D which she acquired after she retired. When she was 17, she began teaching on Permit in a one-room country school. She enjoyed teaching and emphasized fairness and a positive approach to students in order to establish their self-esteem. She taught and went to University after she got married. She travelled extensively with educational groups in pursuit of the educational foundations, methods, curricula, etc. of other countries. She was impressed with the systems in England, New Zealand and Denmark. She admired the enthusiasm of students in Japan. Later, she spent 20 years as an administrator with the Winnipeg School Division No. 1. Donna loved nature, music, powerful cars and the loyalty of so many dear friends of long standing. At Donna's request, there will be no funeral service. Cremation has taken place. Do not stand and weep; I do not sleep. I am a thousand winds that blow; The diamond glints on sparkling snow; The golden sunlight on ripened grain, And the gentle sound of falling rain .
