About STEPHEN PAUL MARINO God saw you getting tired And a cure was not to be, So He wrapped you in His loving arms, And whispered "Come with Me". You suffered much in silence Your spirit did not bend You faced your pain with courage Until the very end. You tried so hard to stay with us Your fight was all in vain God took you to His loving home And freed you from all pain. Courageously with grace and dignity at the age of 51 years, Steve passed away with his loving family and dear friends at his side. Survived by his loving wife Vivian; son Ron (fiancee) Carol; sisters, Linda (Albert) Bonneteau, children, Nicole and Steven of Winnipeg; Theresa (Robert) Gudz, children, Marnie and Marla and great-nephew Jaden of Winnipeg; Debra (Raymond) Both and Ryan, Jonathon, Rhea and Jade of Langley, BC; half-brothers, Jeffery, Gary, Lawrence and Dean Marino of Winnipeg. Stephen was predeceased by his father Stephen in 1989 and his mother Lillian in 1990. Stephen was born and raised in Winnipeg, MB. He was employed by CPR up to 1980, at that time he moved to Squamish, BC and resumed railway duties with BC Rail. Steve also worked for two years at Vancouver Shipyards and then went back to BC Rail up until the time he fell ill in 1998. Steve was a local chairman of the Brother of Railway Carmen and C.A.W. from December 1987 to April 1997. He was financial secretary from June 1996 to the date of his passing. Steve (Sonny) enjoyed working on his 1952 Pontiac which he was totally restoring, riding his motorcycle and snowmobiling with his dear friend Dave. Steves other enjoyments were hunting, fishing, boating and making "Candles" and other crafty things. He enjoyed and supported the Prince George Cougars right up until Saturday, November 13, 2001. Sonny was a giving and loving person who was always there to help. Steve will always be remembered for his wit and humour up until the very end. He touched the hearts of all who knew him and he will be sadly missed. There are so many to thank. Steve was overwhelmed with all of you that were there for him. Special thanks to Dr. Edward Marquis for going above and beyond his call of duty, his dedication, thoughtfulness and patience. Thanks to Shannon for the special things she did for Steve. No words can express our feelings that go to the nurses and staff at the Prince George Rotary Hospice House. They are Angels at work. Our love and thanks to you. Special thanks to Dave Steinbach and Donny Thorne for their love and support throughout Steves illness. A thank you to Charlie Ruggles for being at Steves side as well as support for Vivian and Steves sisters. A memorial service will be held Monday, November 26 at 11:00 a.m. at Glen Eden Funeral Home, 4477 Main St. A gathering of family and friends will follow in Glen Eden Reception Centre.
