Graduation Year Class of 1968
Date of Passing May 02, 2008
About KATHRYN ANNE HEILMANN (nee MOFFATT) It is with great sadness that we announce her sudden passing on May 2, 2008 at her home. Kathryn was 58. She was predeceased by her parents, Thomas and Marie Moffatt, and her sister Laurane Moffatt of Winnipeg. Kathy leaves to mourn her husband Peter; children, Samantha, Christopher (Yvonne), Curtis; grandchildren, Clayton and Danielle; sister Janis Chrest (Robert); nephews, Jeremy, Jason and David; nieces, Anne-Marie (Franco), Naomi, Kelly (Tim) and Dana (John); cousin Elaine (Glen) Fraser; brothers-in-law, Chris and Henry; father-in-law Kurt Heilmann; Kathy's dear friends, Peggy and Ed. Kathy was born June 24, 1949 in Winnipeg. She attended Sisler High and St. John's High School. She enjoyed a career as a paralegal in the 1970s until beginning her new career as full time mother. She was a devoted and caring mother and Nana to her brood. She was a close and caring big sister to Janis. Although Kathy struggled with her illness, she found strength to focus on her beloved family. Her fondest memories were of the family weekends and holidays at Wallace Lake. This brought her great joy as she loved the outdoors. The family would like to thank our dear friend Christine Martens, whose family is an extension of our own, and also the Moszkiewicz family for their support during this time. Thanks also to the coroner, Barbara Burr whose comforting words were much appreciated. Thanks also to the Winnipeg Police, especially Officer Val Miller who provided assistance above and beyond. Kathy often spoke fondly of a caring counsellor who was in her life briefly, Ruth Hamer with Canadian Mental Health Association. When all other doors had closed in the system, Ruth's remained open. For this reason, if friends so wish, donations may be made in Kathy's memory to the Canadian Mental Health Association in lieu of flowers. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, May 10, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street. An online book of condolences may be signed at www.cropo.com 586-8044
