About	LILLIAN PATRICIA SIMS (ZYDYK) December 21, 1945 - July 2, 2017 Peacefully, and on her own terms, Lillian passed away on July 2, 2017, at the St. Boniface Hospital. Left to mourn is her husband of 50 years, Bill; her sister-in-law Lesley and husband Tom Senior; and her very close childhood friend Karl (with a "K") Wojciechowski. Lil is also survived by Henry Hreckosy (Carol); and other cousins, Valerie Charbonneau (Cliff); sister Barbara Laham (Charles); daughter Katherine (Anthony); two grandsons, and many nieces and nephews. Lillian was predeceased by her parents, Mary and Michael Zydyk. Lillian was born in Winnipeg and attended Sisler High School. She worked at Eaton's for several years before choosing a career in nursing. Bill and Lil were married on February 17, 1968. Eventually they moved to Neepawa, Manitoba, where for 25 years she worked at Eastview Lodge. After leaving Eastview, Lillian taught nursing assistants through the Province of Manitoba for five years before retiring. Lillian was respected and well-loved by her co-workers and by the residents at Eastview. Lillian had a beautiful alto voice and sang with the Sweet Adelines in Winnipeg and the Choraleers in the Neepawa area for close to 30 years. She also appeared alongside her husband, Bill, in a number of Whitemud Little Theatre productions. Lillian attended the Dialysis Unit of the St. Boniface Hospital from 2005 until her death. She was always very appreciative of the staff's generosity and kindness to her during her illness. Lil was very recently diagnosed with cancer, but rather than undergoing painful and ultimately pointless treatment, courageously chose instead to cease her dialysis and die with dignity. This she did, with her husband Bill and her sister-in-law Lesley by her side. Lillian chose her own way in death, just as she did in life. As she requested, Lillian was cremated and there was no service. If you wish, please remember Lil by making a donation to the St. Boniface Dialysis Unit or to a charity of your own choice. Lillian will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved her. Her passing has left a deep void in Bill's life, but he knows that they will be together again.
