About JERRY GILARSKI Suddenly after a short illness Jerry Gilarski passed away August 13, 2000. He was predeceased by his father Robert, his mother Florence and his Granny Mary. He is survived by his wife Cheryl and son Andrew, his brother Robert and sister Vickey. Jerry will be greatly missed by his family, many friends and co-workers. Jerry was born on April 13, 1948 and was raised in Winnipegs North End. Jerry was a devoted father to his son Andrew, whom he treasured above all else. He enjoyed watching him play baseball and cherished times he and Andrew were able to escape to play a game of golf. Jerry was proud of his career as a Winnipeg Fire Fighter where he served for twenty years and enjoyed golfing with his co-workers. He was always quick with a smile and helping hand. Jerry excelled in karate at which he achieved a Second Degree Black Belt and was chosen to represent Canada at the Pan American Games in the early 1980s. Jerry was talented with his hands. He had a great passion for restoring and rebuilding vintage muscle cars. His pride and joy was a 1967 SS 396 Chevelle. Prayers for Jerry will be said at the Thomson Funeral Chapels, 669 Broadway, on Thursday, August 17, at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Emile Parish Church, 559 St. Annes Rd., at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, August 18. A private interment will follow at St. Vital Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a trust fund to be established in Jerrys son Andrews name. THOMSON FUNERAL CHAPELS 783-7211
