About WILLIAM (BILL) MAKSYMOWYCZ February 17, 1948 - September 9, 2005 It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Bill Maksymowycz on Friday, September 9, 2005 at Seven Oaks Hospital after a two year battle with cancer. Bill was predeceased by his mother Anna on April 16, 1997 and nephew Joey Landy on September 4, 1997. He is lovingly remembered by his wife Bonnie; daughter Alysia; twin sons, Jason and Justin; father Nicholas; brother Walter (April) and son Clayton; sister-in-law Brenda Landy (Ed) and son Thomas; brothers-in-law, Rockne Winter (Gayle), Dana Winter (Roxy) and many friends. Bill was born in Northeim Germany and immigrated to Winnipeg, Canada with his family in October 1950 at the age of 2. He graduated from Sisler High School and went on to Red River Community College where he received his diploma in Applied Arts on June 26, 1971. He worked at Public Press as Art Director for 15 years. He received his teaching diploma June 26, 1990 in Industrial Teaching Education-Vocational Industrial. With his teaching diploma behind him and his love for art, he obtained a teaching position as art teacher at Tec Voc High School and General Wolfe School. On June 1, 1994 Bill received his Bachelor of Education from the University of Manitoba. Bill was very artistic and passed his talent on to his children as well as his students. He loved going to his daughter and sons' soccer games and went with them on many soccer tournaments to the United States. Bill will be missed by all who knew him as he was a great individual who made friends very easily. We wish to thank the doctors and staff involved with Bill's care at CancerCare Manitoba and the Palliative care nurses, especially Maryanne and Ann. Many thanks to Dr. Mark Kristjanson for all his caring and kindness and to the nurses and staff at Seven Oaks Hospital, 5th Floor, Unit 1. Prayers will be sung 7:30 p.m., Tuesday, September 13 at St. Joseph's Ukrainian Catholic Church, 250 Jefferson Ave. Divine Liturgy will be celebrated 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, September 14 also at the church with a Redemptorist Father officiating. Interment to follow in All Saints Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Bill's memory to CancerCare Manitoba, P.O. Box 2248, Station Main, Winnipeg, MB R3C 9Z9.
