Graduation Year Class of 1974
Date of Passing Dec 13, 2004
About PETER WEBINGER Surrounded by his family, Peter passed away peacefully at St. Boniface Hospital on Monday, December 13, 2004, after a brief battle with cancer at the age of 48. Peter will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed by his wife Joyce along with his sons, Trevor and Kevin. He is also survived by his parents, John and Anna Webinger, brother John (Cheri) Webinger, many nieces, nephews and in-laws. Peter was born on September 20, 1956, grew up in the North End of Winnipeg and married Joyce Tascona in 1978. Peter worked at McGavin's Bakery and then at Wholesale Heating in Winnipeg where he was transferred to a position in Calgary. It was there that he went into sales at Engineered Air and was assigned to the Saskatoon office. After a few memorable years, Peter was promoted to office manager of the Winnipeg. N.W. Ontario sales office. His entertaining impersonations, wonderful sense of humour, dedication and honest work ethic will be missed by all throughout the industry. Peter was extremely devoted to his family and Trevor and Kevin were truly his best friends. Peter enjoyed watching his boys grow and he realized early on that hockey would be a big part of his family's life. With both boys involved in hockey and Joyce managing teams and running tournaments, there was seldom an opportunity for quiet time. Still every Friday night was movie night at the Webingers. Peter and the boys would watch the latest video release with Joyce fielding hockey phone calls. And then there was Hockey Night in Canada, a must see when the Toronto Maple Leafs were playing. Peter was proud of his family and was comforted to know that the strength, closeness and love they shared would continue on throughout the years to come. Two months ago, Peter was diagnosed with terminal cancer, which he valiantly fought without complaint. Even through his discomfort, Peter was more concerned about how others were feeling, how the business was doing and he still managed to leave you with a smile. He was an example of inspiration, courage and dignity to those he left behind. There will be a farewell celebration of Peter's life on Monday, December 20 at 11:00 a.m. at the Glen Lawn Funeral Home, 455 Lagimodiere Blvd. The family would like to thank all of the friends and family who took time to visit, phone and spend a little time with Peter. It meant more to him than you will ever know. Thanks to the hospital staff at St. Boniface Hospital and all of those who made his life as comfortable as possible. In lieu of flowers, we ask that you consider a donation to the Children's Hospital Foundation of Manitoba. Your laughter and smile will remain in our hearts forever. Arrangements entrusted to: GLEN LAWN FUNERAL HOME 455 LAGIMODIERE BLVD. 982-7550
