About | RON GRENKOW It is with great sadness that we announce the passing Ron Grenkow on October 26, 2002 at the Health Sciences Centre. He will be lovingly remembered by Jean, his wife of 37 years, son Daniel (Jamie), daughter Kim Blake (Rob), grandchildren, Jess, Chelsea, and Danny; brother Bryne (Dorothy) sister Karen Bunyan (Lawrence, Bonnie, and Mandy) mother-in-law Eleanor Frend; brother-in-law Jim Kodak (Doris) nephews, Kevin and Brent. He was predeceased by parents, Daniel and Ollie; and father-in-law Bill. He was born in Port Arthur, raised in the North End, and resided in St. James. He started his working career with Dominion Stores and was store manager at Crestview until he left to start a new career with Great West Life, where he worked until his passing. He enjoyed his time at Otter Falls, fishing, skiing, and camping. He loved meeting and talking to new people, spending evenings with the family around a campfire or at a table playing cards. Ron loved to cook, garden, tinker, and was Mr. Fix-it. Most recently he had become a proficient woodcrafter. Rons sense of humour was felt by all through his nicknames and jokes. He was a second dad to many of Dans childhood friends, and had a special place in his heart for all children. His passion was his grandchildren. Many thanks to the staff and doctors on the 7th floor and ward GA3 for their support and comfort. Cremation has already occurred. Friends are invited to join the family for an informal gathering on Friday, November 1 from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. at Knysh Funeral Chapel, 1020 Main St. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba or the Canadian Liver Foundation.
