About | DANIEL TALNICOFF It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Daniel Talnicoff. Danny passed away peacefully, with his wife and family by his side, at Health Sciences Centre on February 17, 2017. Lovingly known as "Uncle Danny", he leaves to mourn his passing: his beloved wife, Jane; sister, Estelle and her husband Iser Kay; nephew David Kay with his wife Sharona and children Tani, Ty and Zevi; nephew Benjamin Kay with his wife Alisa and their children Sydney and Ari; brother-in-laws Harold and Henry Halvorson; niece Kristina Halvorson and her husband Alex. He was predeceased by his parents Benjamin and Rose. Danny earned a Bachelor of Science in Education at the University of North Dakota, and was appointed as the first Physical Education and Outdoor Education Consultant for the Transcona-Springfield School Division in 1971, a position that he held until he retired in 1993. Danny was a long time member of the Menorah Lodge #167, as well as a long time member of the Sport Car Unit of the Khartum Shriners where he had great fun driving his silver, gull-wing Bradley sport car in many parades and working at the circus. As an active member of the Shriner Fundraising Committee, Danny put his excellent organizational skills to use as he was the Christmas Cake Chairman for over 25 years; he was especially appreciative of children's charities. Summers at the cottage at Sandy Hook with his Winnipeg family and vacations in Boca Raton with his Florida family were the highlights of his life. During the summer if he wasn't at the cottage, he was in his garden. Danny was a long time member of the Bide-A-Wee Curling Club, where he met his wife. He found a great deal of fun, as the skip, to have a "7 ender" game once in his curling life. During his lifetime Danny was involved in many sporting events either as a participant or as a volunteer. Danny lived his life well. He was very active and outgoing and his warm generous heart, as well as his great smile, will be missed by many. Danny will be remembered in his families' hearts forever and we will always be connected by love. Whether you knew Danny from work or as a friend, please remember him in your own way. A beautiful and endearing eulogy was given by his nephews David and Benjamin at a graveside service held at B'nai Abraham Cemetery on February 19. If family and friends so desire, donations may be made to a charity of their choice. As published in Winnipeg Free Press on Mar 25, 2017 |
