About	ALANA EILEEN FIFE 1981 - 2003 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Alana Eileen Fife on January 22, 2003. She leaves to cherish her memory, her parents, Darryl and Cynthia Fife; sister Cristylee; great-grand-mother Kay Kostick; maternal grandparents, Eileen and Paul Mishkow; paternal grandparent Ruby Fife; aunts and uncles, Bruce and June Mishkow (Rory), Dianne (Mishkow) and Mitch McCrimmon, Andy and Karen Mishkow (Warren and Mandy), Danny and Chantel Bertrand (Tim and David), Sharon Bertrand and Roger Laine, Wayne and Sharon Fife; as well as cousins. Also a special mention to Auntie Swouns. She was predeceased by her paternal grandparent Ron Fife, and aunt Debralee Fife. Alana was born in Winnipeg on April 20, 1981. She lived with her family in the North End of Winnipeg. She attended Sisler High School, and after graduating enrolled in the Arts program at the University of Winnipeg. After completing her third year of university Alana decided to postpone her graduation in order to partake in a one-year overseas missions program through the Mennonite Central Committee (MCC). Alana was stationed in Solo, Indonesia. Her adventure began in August 2002. Her last six months were spent teaching English in an elementary school, ministering in a local church, befriending and assisting fellow Indonesian students in their studies, and engaging in many friendships with the local people. Alana had a heart for social justice and peace; thus, fully endorsed and delighted herself in events like the recent Solo Peace Rally, put on by her host dads interfaith group, sponsored by MCC. It was here that she was able to contribute from the passions of her heart: discussing peace issues, and strategic, responsive peace building projects. Alana had immeasurable impact upon so many people in this Indonesian community, and will be missed immensely. In 1997 Alana began her journey of faith. She started to attend Calvary Temple, and it was there that she gave her heart to her Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. Alana quickly became involved in various ministries, including youth camp, childrens inner city ministry, church choir, and providing excellent leadership in young adult ministry at the Link. All of her involvement spoke of her hearts desire to serve people, and to impact them with the same love that changed her life. On Wednesday, January 22, Alana passed away tragically. She died combining three of her greatest loves: the outdoors, children, and God. She was loved, and will be greatly missed. When adults and children alike met Alana, her rosy cheeks, infectious smile, sincerity, and compassion immediately charmed and impacted them. As stated by a friend: If you met her, youd never forget her. Alana lived her dream to the fullest, with a zeal that was second to none. In 21 years she lived a lifetime. However, we believe this is not a rendering but merely a postponement of our friendships with Alana. We know with confidence that she has embraced her true Love, and heard the words Well done my faithful daughter. The family would like to invite you to a celebration of Alanas life on Thursday, January 30 at 7:00 p.m. at Calvary Temple, 400 Hargrave St., Winnipeg. Flowers gratefully declined. A memorial fund will be established to further Alanas work with children in constructing an orphanage in a developing country. Envelopes will be made available at the service.
