Graduation Year Class of 2003
Date of Passing Mar 23, 2013
About PTE CHRISTOPHER GLEN FORBES February 9, 1985 - March 23, 2013 It is with heavy and broken hearts we announce the sudden passing of Pte Christopher Glen Forbes. Left to cherish his memory are his mother Linda (Bruce), father Glen (Janet), sisters Jennifer (Chris), Tina (Deanne) and Jennette, his fiancée Kristan, as well as Jessica and Marie, nieces Lily and Kiera, aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family and so many friends. Chris is predeceased by his grandfather, Fred Baker, grandmother, Kathleen Baker and cousin Crystal. Chris was born and raised in Winnipeg where he attended Sisler High School. While there he made long and lasting friendships with everyone he met. This has always been an extremely easy task for him even as a little boy due to his easy going, fun loving nature. Christopher made everyone feel at ease, comfortable and like you were the most important person in the room. He held his friends and family at an equal level in his heart, if you needed comforting he was the best shoulder to lean on, if you needed a laugh he would see to it and if you just needed him, without question you would get him. Chris' sense of humour is something we will all hold onto dearly. Between his witty comments, his "C'mon" and his love of laughter he made all of our days so much brighter. In August of 2010, Chris joined the Canadian Forces. He completed his basic training in St. Jean, QC and was soon posted to Petawawa, ON. We never saw him happier or prouder than when he wore his uniform. Chris proudly worked as a signals lineman for 2 CMB HQ & Sigs at CFB Petawawa and this is where he met the person he wanted to spend his life with, his Kristan. The two of them were looking forward to planning their wedding and an amazing future together. Chris recently after many months of hard training, earned his hook, signifying competency in his trade. He phoned home to let everyone know he would be receiving it, even facetime calling to show his sisters where on his uniform it would be placed. Chris loved his job and had nothing short of the highest regard for the men and women he worked with. Among many of Chris' loves besides Kristan, his friends and family, is his cat Maddy whom he fondly called Fatman, singing karaoke, his Christmas movie with Tina, the Winnipeg Jets and all the updates on his future niece or nephew, Baby Bean. It is hard to believe we won't be getting our phone calls from him, the sight of his smiling face or hear the sound of his laugh but we will hold his memory close and know we have had the pleasure of knowing a Prince among Men. Our family would like to express our sincere appreciation to CFB Petawawa, the Canadian Forces, Alana, the Swan family, all of his family, his "brothers" and his friends. A Celebration of Chris' life will be held Saturday, April 6, 2013 at 1:30 p.m. at Westwood Community Church, 401 Westwood Dr., Winnipeg, MB. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Soldier On Fund. soldieron-sanslimites@forces.gc.ca.
